Life Runners

Life Runners will finally be starting a chapter in the DC area ( First training event is at St Michael’s in Annandale, 7 a.m. Saturday morning, August 10th. The mission of Life Runners is to pray, fundraise, and run as a Team … All In Christ for Pro-Life! Please come join us as we kick off our running group. Below are additional details from Jeff Grabosky, leader of the DC Life Runners chapter.

While it only takes five people to start a chapter, I am ecstatic that we have well over 50 people signed up in the DC area already! As Life Runners, our mission is to pray, fundraise, and run as a Team … All In Christ for Pro-Life! Our vision is to pray and run as a team until we cross the finish line that ends abortion. Our values are to keep the faith, respect life from conception to natural death, and run so as to win.

My name is Jeffrey Grabosky and I am the DC chapter leader. I certainly hope the chapter expands and we can eventually break into even more groups throughout the DC metro area. At the moment, we are just getting started, so I consider myself so blessed to be involved with you all at the start of our chapter! I’ve been involved with the Life Runners since 2011 and I am so incredibly excited to be getting this area up and running, along with my wife Mary, and my new friend and fellow Life Runner Steven Rossi.

As a group, the Life Runners have a few main events we do each year. We have a 5K in our DC backyard, which is scheduled for January 22nd at the March for Life in East Potomac Park. We also put on a relay that goes all across the country and goes directly through our area. Finally, we have a group marathon / half-marathon each year in the Fall. This year we will be in South Dakota for the Crazy Horse races, and after Air Force and Long Beach, we’ll be at Marine Corps in 2015! Much more information about our organization, fundraising, and events can be found at the website

Our First Event!

As a chapter, we try to have some type of event about once a month. The first thing to do if you have not already done so is to order a Life Runners shirt online so you can rock it out for events and races!

Our first DC event will be an adoration and training run! We will get it underway early in the morning to avoid the very hot temperatures and to hopefully avoid other obligations people may have that day. It will be held on Saturday morning, August 10th. We’ll meet at St. Michael’s Parish at 7401 St Michael Lane in Annandale, VA. There is perpetual adoration that you are welcome to spend time in before the run. While I will probably show up with my wife around 6:45am, feel free to show up whenever you like and we will officially meet at the Mary statue outside the Church’s entrance at 7:15am. After talking for just a few minutes about the Life Runners, we will set out on a group training run of no more than an hour (We have a route planned out we will send out before the event). We will then close in prayer back at the Church.

Keep your eyes open for the next event, where we will be gathering together as Life Runners at a local race. For now, what I ask is that you email me back to let me know if you think you will be able to make it or not. Also, please feel free to share this with your friends and family. If you have moved or no longer wish to receive these updates, please let me know as well. I can be reached at Steven Rossi, who is helping to get this chapter going as well, can be reached at Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

City of Fairfax Redefines Abortion Clinics as “Medical Care Facilities” for Zoning

The City of Fairfax has recently amended their zoning regulations in such a way as to redefine abortion clinics as “medical care facilities” instead of regular business offices. This is a huge help to safeguard women’s health and preclude those who provide abortion from opening without required medical standards. It also precludes them from opening in residential neighborhoods.

You can watch the city council meetings at the following link: Just click on 2013 General Meetings… then July 9. The May 14 meetings was also pertinent to this issue with some tremendous local citizens speaking out for life.

Here are some quotes from the zoning amendment passed on 9 July:

“Clinics are regulated as a type of office and are permitted by-right in all commercial districts,” zoning administrator Michelle Coleman wrote. In the new ordinance, “clinics were removed from the definition of an office use and now fall within the medical care facility definition. That change was made because of similarity in land use characteristics between clinics and the other uses within the new category.”

Here is the definition Fairfax City approved Tuesday (9 July):

“Medical Care Facility means any hospital, urgent care facility, surgical center, or similar use. Medical Care Facilities shall not include a physician’s or dentist’s office.”

This fight is not over! Please write to the following Fairfax City Councilmen and register your support of the new zoning changes that just passed. They are under heavy attack by the pro-aborts (over 1,000 have already contacted the City Council). It is crucial that you send out ASAP! A sample letter is below and only takes a few minutes.

SEND TO THESE CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS: These are ones who supported the changes, the Mayor did not vote but he did support them.

Thanks if you have already done so.

Liz Hildebrand, Coordinator, St. Raymond’s Respect Life Committee

Dear Honorable ___________,

Thank-you for sponsoring the changes to the zoning ordinance pertaining to clinics, hospitals, medical or dental offices and related uses. I believe these are prudent and common sense changes and allow the adjacent communities and the Fairfax City Council to weigh in on the impacts of a new medical center before opening up in their neighborhood as certain medical facilities can have a negative impact to the health, safety, and general welfare of the community.

Thank-you once again!

Fairfax Abortion Clinic Update

NOVA Women’s Healthcare on 10400 Eaton Place (the largest abortion mill in the Commonwealth of VA) is CLOSED. Building workers said they saw moving vans Tuesday this week, others came forward to tell Pro-lifers they were closed for business. We have no word they are opening up elsewhere and pray they are closed for good. If you call their office, they are directing women to Falls Church Healthcare and Alexandria Women’s Health – both abortion mills. (Yet as of last night their website makes no note of this …)

You may remember that NOVA WHC entered into a lease agreement with an office building on Main Street in the City of Fairfax to occupy the entire third floor, tripling their size. They lost that lease being but one parking space shy of the requirements. One parking space is a mighty thin margin of success but of course Our Lord is sovereign over parking lots too!

On Tuesday 14 May the City Council met and this topic was on the agenda. At that date the application had just been withdrawn, but the mayor still allowed (though discouragingly) concerned citizens to speak out on this agenda item. The link to that meeting is below. This topic began about 19 minutes in to the meeting and goes for quite a while as some great folks get up and “speak the truth in love”. Maybe you will recognize some of those who came forward.

Watch anytime at your convenience on the internet at the following link: (5/14/13)

Those who organized the community to rise up against this looming atrocity are sponsoring Final Closing Prayers on Saturday, June 29 at 10:00 am at 10400 Eaton Place! Hope to see you there!! There is also a Closing Celebration planned for sometime next month and we will let you know when we have the details worked out.

Celebrate with a certain amount of caution. There are few who will give up their livelihood ‘so easily.’ Please keep up the spiritual battle against this evil. Yet, while maintaining our vigilance, of course we still take this moment to say Thanks be to God!
