CYO Basketball League Information

The Diocesan Northern Virginia Junior Catholic Youth Organization provides sports leagues which are an important component of comprehensive youth ministry in our parishes. Activities should foster cooperation, respect, sportsmanship, responsibility, leadership, competitiveness, fairness and courtesy.

Basic Team and League Information

Practices will begin in November and will be held at surrounding public school gyms.

The NVJCYO has leagues for each grade from 3rd through 8th. Depending on the number of players registered, St. Raymond’s will support teams as is feasible. We have successfully competed with teams consisting of various age groups, i.e., 4th, 5th, and 6th graders on a 6th grade team. As we begin to identify the number of players interested this season, we’ll be better able to organize teams. The more teams we have, the more adult volunteers we’ll need.

Teams will usually practice 2 times per week depending on gym availability and number of teams organized.

Games are held on Saturdays and Sundays mostly at Arlington Diocese Catholic Schools beginning the first weekend in December though the end of February.

The basketball league is open to 3rd through 8th grade boys and girls who are Parish members.

The cost is generally $60 – $75 per player and $25 additional for each sibling. (Checks should be made payable to St. Raymond’s.)

If you would like to register a child for St. Raymond’s basketball team, please complete the online sign-up form and download and complete and submit the code of conduct and participation form.

If you are interested in coaching a team, assisting with the basketball program, or have other questions, please contact Matt and Annmarie Riordan at Coaches and other volunteers are required to have completed to the Diocese’s Virtus Training.
