Father Charles Smith, born in Florida, his family moved to Northern Virginia in 1974.  After graduating from Bishop O’Connell High School he earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from George Mason University.

Father Smith worked two and a half years in banking, followed by five years of Government Contracting, and then five years selling insurance for New York Life.

In the fall of 2000, Father entered Saint Charles Seminary in Philadelphia.  He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Arlington on June 10, 2006.  Most Honorable Bishop Paul S. Loverde assigned Father Smith to Saint Veronica in Chantilly and Saint Ambrose in Annandale.  Father joined the staff of Saint Raymond of Penafort in July 2016.

He currently serves as a chaplain for EnCourage, which ministers to family members of those with same- sex attraction, and for the Arlington Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (ADCCW).  Father also chaplains the Legion of Mary and the Knights of Columbus at Saint Raymond Parish.
