November 18, 2019 Youth

St. Raymond’s Youth Apostolate will NOT be attending the Steubenville Youth Conference (or go on any trips, WorkCamp, etc.) this summer, out of the utmost caution for our safety due to the uncertainty of where things will be at with Covid-19.

Teens currently in 8-12th grade are invited to join us for a weekend away with a few thousand Catholic teens to encounter God & experience His love through the power of the Sacraments, youthful dynamic Catholic speakers, uplifting music & new friends!

“Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved.” -Psalm 80:3 RSV

Can you remember a time when you weren’t anxious about something? The chaos of our lives can overwhelm us and make it difficult to see anything other than confusion and brokenness.

And somewhere along the way, we’ve forgotten who we are – and, more importantly, who God is.

We have a good, loving Father in heaven who created us to share in His glory, to see everything and everyone with His eyes. His greatest desire is to raise us up out of our fear and anxiety and restore us to the hope and abundant life that only He can give.

Why should I go to Steubenville?

“My trip to Steubenville was an amazing experience; meeting new people and growing closer with God. I had a lot of fun going to Steubenville and I think you would too..“

Steubenville helped me open up more to God and to the people around me. Prior to this event, I didn’t really know who God was; I thought he was just someone high and almighty that I’m taught to worship. However, this experience changed my perspectives. I have chosen to deliberately acknowledge him because Steubenville has shown me who He really was. After days of being there, I realized that being able to be around others who loves God as much as I do really add a beneficial factor to such a great experience.   10/10 would recommend.

My experience at Steubenville was great because I think everyone falls away from God during teenage years so it’s a great place to get it back on track. God isn’t really forced on you either while you’re there, it’s just a chill experience. The people you meet are all genuinely nice people who are just fun to talk to for the most part. I’d recommend getting a friend or someone you know to go with you so that way it’ll be easier to meet new people. If you have the right attitude, you’re guaranteed to come back from the trip happier then when you left and that’s a promise.

Last summer I went to the Steubenville Conference at the Franciscan University in Ohio. I learned to love going on the retreat even when I was not as enthusiastic leaving for the retreat as I was coming back from it. It was an amazing experience that was eye opening in that it really made you think about topics that you normally wouldn’t think about in different perspectives. The talks that we had were extremely inspiring and I still remember them to this day. I was able to grow in my faith, be more open to more involvement in my church community, but I also made friends and had a great time. I recommend this conference for anyone who’s unsure or unused to being involved in the church community and is wanting to try something new.  I really do not regret going!

My faith and my perspective on the world we live in was changed after my trip to Steubenville. My heart was touched by God, and my faith has grown tremulously since then. I don’t think I would be the Catholic that I am, one year later, if it weren’t for this retreat!
