On Thursday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Patrick Reilly, the founder and president
of The Cardinal Newman Society, will speak at St. Raymond's Catholic Church parish
hall (8750 Pohick Road, Springfield, VA) on the religious liberty threats to
Catholic Education. The event is sponsored by the parish Religious Freedom and
Marriage Committee. This presentation is essential for parents and grandparents with
children and grandchildren in public schools, religious schools, or home schools.

The talk will center around Catholic education and the current fight over religious
liberties. Catholic education has been in the bulls eye of the government and the
courts over religious liberty issues and many Catholics are unaware of the potential
impact of the election on Catholic education. Issues such as Supreme Court
vacancies, Common Core, Title IX, transgender "rights", “same-sex marriage”, etc.
all have a direct impact on Catholic education. Mr. Reilly will walk us through the
particular issues of the day and how faithful Catholic colleges/universities and
K-12 schools are dealing with them.

Patrick Reilly is a nationally known commentator on Catholic education and is
regularly seen on EWTN News and other national television and radio outlets and not
often speaking locally in the Washington DC area. He is a regular commentator on
Catholic education in the National Catholic Register online and other publications.
The Cardinal Newman Society is the largest Catholic organization focused on
preserving and protection the Catholic identity of Catholic education. While it is
best known for its Newman Guide which recommends faithful Catholic colleges and
university, over the last four years The Newman Society has made significant
progress in it work with K-12 schools.
