WHEN is this dinner? THIS Friday, April 29th, on the Feast Day of St. Catherine of Siena!
WHAT exactly is this Project?
St. Raymond’s Christ House Committee volunteers coordinate the meal planning and organization, preparation, some cooking, and serving so that our parishioners may volunteer to cook up part of a meal for which about 5 to 7 parishioners sign up to serve in the small Dining Room at Christ House in Alexandria every month with a 5th Friday.
Our dinner feeds 70 + homeless men and women (and, on occasion, a few children) plus 17 men who live in Christ House’ Transitional Shelter where they live and receive job search support/training and warm dinners daily while these individuals find a job or work a new job until they transition into a secure job and housing.
Which RECIPE do I use?: Use the recipe on St, Raymond’s website which makes 6 servings (see link to recipe below)OR make/buy YOUR favorite recipe!

How do I store the Cooled BBQ Chicken Entree(s)? Place chicken and sauce into Food Storage Bags OR a plastic container(s). If you label your container with your name we will wash it and return it to St. Raymond’s parish hall kitchen window for you to pick up on Saturday or Sunday, 4/30 or 5/01, this coming weekend.
When is my dish DUE? This Thursday, April 28th OR Friday, April 29th, BUT No Later Than 1 pm!
Where should I drop off my dish?
St. Raymond’s parish hall kitchen window. Look for the Christ House sign and place your cooked food item(s) inside the ice cooler.At what time? Thursday, between 6:30 a.m. and 7:45 pm OR Friday between 6:30 am and 1 pm.
Let us ask St. Catherine of Siena on her Feast Day this Friday to BLESS all those involved in this Christ House Dinner Project, from our parish volunteers who prepare and serve up the meals to the Christ House staff in Alexandria who work with us to provide a warm meal to those less fortunate who will come to dinner this Friday night. And may God bless and keep ALL the other parish volunteers from across our Diocese who host dinners all the other nights of the year!
